Rich Hill Demoted
Chicago Cubs P Rich Hill was demoted to Triple-A Iowa Saturday. Jon Lieber will take Hill's spot in the rotation. Sean Gallagher was recalled from Triple-A Iowa and will take Lieber's spot in the bullpen.
Julio Franco retires after 23 years.
23 year-vet Julio Franco announced his retirement from baseball Wednesday night. He was the oldest man to hit a home run in the majors. He is 49 years old. Franco retires with these career stats: .298 AVG, 2,586 H, and 173 home runs in 23 seasons. He debuted in the majors in 1982 with the Philadelphia Phillies. He played for 8 teams.
Derrick Turnbow designated for assignment Friday
Former All-star closer Derrick Turnbow was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Friday. This season he pitched in eight games: 0-1, 15.63 ERA,

NL Player of Month announced
The Phillies second basemen won NL player of the month. These are his stats: .360 AVG, 10 2B, 1 3B, 11 HR, 23 RBI, 25 Runs, 85 TB, .766 Slugging, 15 multi-hit games, 2 multi-HR games, and 6 multi- RBI games. He hit a HR in five straight games from 4-17/4-21. He will get a 52 inch Sharp Aquos HD TV. As well as a specially designed trophy.

Matt Morris
The Pirates released Matt Morris on Sunday April 27 and retired on April 30. He was 0-4, with 9 SO, a 9.67 ERA in 22.1 IP on the season. The Pirates will have to pay him 11 million to buy out his contract.
Moss has appendectomy
Boston Red Sox outfielder Brandon Moss had an appendectomy Saturday. This happens a day after he sparks a rally to help the Red Sox rally over the Rays on Friday night.
Lilly notches no. 1,000
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ted Lilly recorded his 1,00 career strikeout Saturday night against the first place St. Louis Cardinals. He gets the win to improve his record to 2-4 on the season. Lilly has a 5.97 ERA, and 29 strikeouts on the season. Lilly is now 76-70 and has 1,002 strikeouts in his career. He is now in his 10th season in the majors.
Cardinals pitcher Reyes sent down.
Anthony Reyes, once the Cardinals top pitching prospect was sent down to Triple-A Memphis Sunday afternoon. He was pitching out of the bullpen this season. These are his stats for the 2008 season so far: 9 G, 13.2 IP, 2 HR, 3 BB, 10 SO, and a 5.27 ERA. The Cardinals said that he will be a starting pitcher at Memphis.
Ian Kennedy sent down.
Struggling Yankees pitcher Ian Kennedy was sent down Sunday to Triple-A. He was 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA in 6 games, 5 of them being starts.
Yanks in Tampa rehabbing.
Three New York Yankees will be in Tampa on rehab assignments this week. MVP Alex Rodriguez, All-Star Jorge Posoda, and rookie Phil Hughes.
Florida State League Rehab
I live in Florida and I am also a huge fan of the High- A Florida Sate League. The main reason is everybody is like a family in most of the stadiums. The other reason is that you not only get to see the stars of tomorrow play today, but you get some visits from major league players on rehab.
